Here at the Immigration Division of Catholic Charities Community Services, we provide legal consultations and representation to clients living in NYC and the Lower Hudson Valley. Through different programming, we provide legal consultations, pro se app workshop assistance, and also provide referrals to clients, non-legal related. From providing legal representation to unaccompanied children, to recent arrivals who are in removal proceedings, the work we do is endless.

Volunteers who express interest will join our email list and once assignments become available, they can volunteer to help out. No time commitment or hour requirement. Very flexible. Monday-Friday

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Assist with translating client documents
  • Assist with interpretation sessions such as court hearing prep with client and attorney
  • Provide interpretation to help attorney communicate with client and fill out applications or forms
  • Interpret during client secondary evaluations

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Must be a bilingual speaker * Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole speakers are strongly encouraged!
  • Friendly disposition
  • Customer service mentality
  • Currently enrolled in/graduated from college.
  • Has access to computer, internet, and Microsoft Word.
  • Interested in legal work or pursuing law school is a plus!
