Volunteers play an integral role in hospice's interdisciplinary approach and are providing quality care. This position contributes to the mission and vision of Gentiva Hospice by serving as an advocate for patient. Some responsibilities include: Visit with Veteran patients and families, companionship, interaction, and comfort to the vertern patient, as well as offering emotional support to the caregiver(s).

Description

Volunteering presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to the community while enhancing one's resume and college applications. As a hospice volunteer, individuals can select their level of involvement and the specific activities they wish to partake in. Common volunteer responsibilities include attentive listening to patient's concerns, providing a comforting and supportive presence, engaging in the patient's hobbies, such as participating in board games or discussing current events, documenting memories for the patient, offering light housekeeping assistance if required, affording caregivers respite, and aiding with administrative tasks at the office.
