Villa Barr Art Park located in Novi, MI is a magical one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary sculpture park that was the vision of world-renown sculptor David Barr and his wife dancer Beth Barr. Shortly before their respective deaths, they donated their estate to the City of Novi to be developed into a Sculpture Park and Artist Residency Program. The Park opened in 2018 and boasts 21 of Barr's sculptures as well as his working studio and the couple's former home designed and built by Barr. The park is free and open to the public. Its artist residency program hosts 3 - 4 artists a year (all disciplines) from around the country and world. Artists live in residency for 4 - 12 weeks during which they create their art, provide educational and cultural opportunities for the community and leave behind a piece created during their residency. To date the Residency has hosted 14 artists including sculptors, poets, dancers, photographers, videographers, musicians and painters. The Park's Founding Advisory Committee is seeking a highly skilled nonprofit professional to work with them to lead the park to its next phase of development. . . specifically, to develop and market programs and partnerships to elevate the visibility of the park and its international artist residency program. This includes working with various media, increasing the range and number of stakeholders by developing new programs and partners, writing and distributing press releases, documenting the quanititive and qualitative impact of the park and its artists-in-residence on the surrounding community including tracking visits, program attendance (both in person and online), interviewing stakeholders, etc. This is an exciting, challenging and rewarding chance to make a significant difference while working with a passionate, creative, experienced group of professionals committed to realizing the potential of this one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary park and its international artist residency.
