We have some volunteer opportunities for students at Favoured Hospice, a smaller, tight-knit hospice company based out of Dayton! These would be great for healthcare degree-seeking students, those looking to get service hours, or anyone just looking to make a difference in the community and impact those navigating end of life. Most of our opportunities right now are for companionship visits which could be simply providing a listening ear for a patient, doing arts/crafts, assisting in light housekeeping, playing cards/board games with them, taking them outside to enjoy the weather, etc. These are non-patient care roles; more so just being a friend to individuals who are nearing end of life. Ideally we would like to have our volunteers out for an hour or two, one day a week, but we can be flexible with their schedule! We have multiple openings right now at a nursing facility in Ramsey, where some of our patients reside. We also have some openings in our special events department, which could be making tie-blankets, writing cards, assembling/delivering goody bags, or hosting a fun event at a nursing facility! We love when our volunteers get to utilize their special talents as well, such as playing music or singing, pet therapy, photography, etc.

Description
Volunteers are a vital part of our dedicated hospice team. By offering a few hours of their time a month, they bring peace, joy, and comfort to individuals navigating the last chapter of their life.
Volunteer roles: Companionship, pet therapy, card making, hairstylist, music, and vigil.
Service area: We serve patients throughout Minnesota wherever they consider home. This could be a long-term care center, assisted living, group home, private home, etc. Most of our current patients reside in Champlin, Ramsey, Plymouth, Minnetonka, Bloomington, and Monticello, but we are always continuing to grow and expand!
Time commitment/schedule: Flexible to your schedule! Visits can be made during the week or weekend. We usually ask that our companion/friendly visit volunteers visit weekly or every other week for about an hour.
