ORGANIZATION: San Francisco Friends of the Urban Forest


Hello Friends!

Join Friends of the Urban Forest in planting new street trees alongside community members. You will be led by experienced staff and volunteers as we break off into groups and plant new street trees. Light lunch and snacks will be provided and enjoyed as a thank you for helping us make San Fransico a greener place.


  • 8:45am: Arrival and Check-In
  • 9:15am: Welcome and Safety Speech
  • 9:30am: Break into Groups with Planting Leaders, Begin Working
  • 12:30pm - 1:00 pm: Return Tools (end time is subject to change depending on the last tree in the ground)
  • After Planting Your Group's Trees: Lunch & Goodbyes Together, we will help expand the tree canopy coverage to provide the benefits of trees to our neighbors!

To promote a larger, healthier urban forest as part of the urban ecosystem, through community planting, maintenance, education and advocacy.


Friends of the Urban Forest is committed to the belief that trees are a critical element of a livable urban environment. Founded in 1981, FUF offers financial, technical, and practical assistance to individuals and neighborhood groups who want to plant and take care for trees. FUF has planted over 35,000 trees on the streets of San Francisco-about 30% of the the city total street trees.
