WEBS Training Center seeks dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors in the following roles. Each position plays a vital role in advancing our mission to empower 1 million underserved individuals through financial education, job training, tax resolution, and healthy living programs, achieving financial independence and better health. Board members will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. These are volunteer positions, although travel to events and hotel accommodations will be covered based on the budget.

Because we interact with vulnerable communitites, a background check is required for this position.

Secretary

Role Overview: The Secretary will maintain governance integrity by managing accurate records and ensuring compliance with legal standards.

Specific Duties:

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of board meetings, including minutes and attendance.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with bylaws, policies, and legal requirements.
  • Policy Support: Assist in the development and implementation of governance policies.
  • Legal Coordination: Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Filing Documents: Ensure timely filing of required legal documents and reports.

Legal Advisor

Role Overview: The Legal Advisor will provide guidance on legal practices and compliance, ensuring the organization adheres to all legal standards.

Specific Duties:

  • Legal Advice: Advise the board on legal matters and potential risks.
  • Document Review: Review and draft legal documents and contracts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Legal Coordination: Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Policy Development: Support the development of policies and procedures.

Technology Advisor

Role Overview: As the Technology Advisor, you will drive the organization’s digital strategy, fostering technological adaptation and innovation.

Specific Duties:

  • Tech Strategy: Develop and oversee the implementation of the organization’s technology strategy.
  • Tech Analysis: Identify and evaluate new technologies and digital tools to support program and administrative functions.
  • Tech Integration: Collaborate with staff to integrate technology solutions into daily operations.
  • Data Security: Ensure the security and privacy of organizational data.
  • Investment Guidance: Provide guidance on technology-related investments and budget allocations.
  • Lead Tech Committee: Chair the technology committee and lead initiatives for digital transformation.

Innovation Advisor

Role Overview: The Innovation Advisor will lead efforts to foster innovation within the organization, ensuring we remain at the forefront of educational and operational practices.

Specific Duties:

  • Culture of Innovation: Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify opportunities for new programs, services, and processes.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to implement innovative solutions.
  • Trend Monitoring: Monitor trends and advancements in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strategic Direction: Provide strategic direction for innovation initiatives.

Diversity and Inclusion Officer

Role Overview: The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will champion our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all organizational facets.

Specific Duties:

  • DEI Strategy: Develop and implement DEI strategies and initiatives.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the organization’s DEI progress and impact.
  • Training and Resources: Provide training and resources to board members and staff on DEI best practices.
  • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for inclusive policies and practices within the organization.
  • Community Collaboration: Collaborate with community partners to promote DEI externally.
  • Lead DEI Committee: Chair the DEI committee and lead efforts to foster an inclusive environment.

Board Member Contribution Expectations

Currently, there is no requirement to contribute to the nonprofit, but we encourage board members to give at a level that is meaningful to them, within their capacity. This can be through personal connections, hosting events, or leveraging their networks.

Meeting Schedule and Compensation

  • Monthly Meetings: Board members will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
  • Volunteer Positions: These are volunteer positions and do not include a salary.
  • Reimbursement: Travel to events and hotel accommodations will be covered based on the budget.

Description

Since our 501(c)(3) approval, WEBS Training Center, Inc. has received $40,000 in in-kind donations, helping us build a strong foundation. We focus on financial stability, community support, and educational growth through key initiatives:

  • Low-Income Tax Clinic: Free legal assistance for tax issues.
  • Senior Tax Assistance & Resources (S.T.A.R.) Program: Mobile unit for senior tax and financial literacy services.
  • Salsa Sprouts: Indoor Garden Adventure: Indoor gardening kits for young learners and families.
  • Sunday Solutions: Financial literacy workshops for ESL and low-income families.

We remain committed to empowering individuals and families through education and support services. We are excited about the future and grateful for community support as we strive to make a lasting impact.
