Welcome to our LGBTQ+ Pride Community Days Construction Build Event!

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe in creating inclusive and welcoming environments for every volunteer. LGBTQ+ Pride Community Days offer safer, intentional, and fun spaces for all those who identify as LGBTQ+ to come together and build community-all while supporting the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

This event will be hosted at our Gooseberry Trails build site located on land from the Greater Portland Bible Church* at 2374 SW Vermont St. Portland Or 97219, on Saturday July 13th from 8:00am-3:30pm.

No construction experience is required to participate! The day is great for beginners to Habitat for Humanity building with ample opportunity for skill building.

Schedule

  • 8:00-8:30: Check-in and Coffee
  • 8:30-9:00: Introduction circle and a staff led Safety Brief
  • 9:00-10:10: Breaking up into 4 groups to do two rotations of tool training
  • 10:10-10:20: Morning Break
  • 10:20-11:30: Continuing in groups for the next two rotations of tool training
  • 11:30-12:30: lunchtime and programming happening in a room of the church
  • 12:30-12:45: Gather back up and learn about the task for the afternoon
  • 12:45-3:00: Task work will be demo and rehab on a job trailer that will be used by site staff
  • 3:00-3:15: Everyone transitions to Clean-up from the task work
  • 3:15-3:30:Ending circle and group photo

Please wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing you do not mind becoming dirty.

Lunch will be provided, please bring a water bottle.

Description

Habitat for Humanity Portland Region serves Multnomah County, east Washington County, and northern Clackamas County and has the ability to reach out to families one step away from homelessness. Habitat sells homes to hardworking people in need of decent, affordable housing. We are an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-denominational Christian housing ministry and global home-building movement. We welcome people from all walks of life to partner with our program to serve families in need with generosity, humility, and love.
