Recruiting Organization: Innovation For Equity

Join us on August 9th for the must-attend 3rd Annual Black Education Forum at the historic Old Whaling Church, which will bring together educators, employers, investors, policymakers, workforce professionals, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and individuals passionate about the success of Black learners. This year's topic is "Education Justice and Democracy." Moderated by award-winning journalist Michele Norris, the Forum will be enriched by the perspectives of a distinguished panel of experts. Following the Forum, there will be a reception fostering further dialogue and fellowship.

2024 Topic: Education Justice and Democracy

As we confront the enduring legacies of oppression and marginalization within education, it becomes clear that the pursuit of justice is inseparable from the preservation of democratic ideals. We are also clearly in a critical election year. From structural barriers that limit access to quality education to the perpetuation of systemic inequities along racial, economic, and gender lines, the urgency to act has never been greater. How can education be leveraged as a tool for advancing justice? What role should democratic principles play in shaping educational policies and practices? In an age of increasing censorship, misinformation, autocracy, and racially-motivated attacks, how do we cultivate democratic citizenship and civic engagement to benefit Black learners and communities?
