Grey Towers National Historic Site Ambassadors Program
ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
Do you like to talk with small groups of visitors, assist with directions and enjoy the outdoors? If you answered yes, then this program might be the right fit for you.
Grey Towers National Historic Site is looking for Ambassadors that will assist with visitor needs within the landscape of our historic core. Duties will include:
· Giving directions to multiple areas on the site
· Answering questions about the Pinchot family, Grey Towers NHS and the US Forest Service
· Assisting with events
Experience is not required, and training will be provided to ambassadors.
We would love future ambassadors to schedule at least one time slot per month during the busiest part of our season, if possible. If you have more time available, we can accommodate you! The optimal schedule would be noon until 3:00pm any day Thursday thru Monday. Our greatest needs are on Saturdays and Sundays, June through October. We have activities and events year-round and can always use some help.
Grey Towers was the home of Gifford Pinchot, the first Chief of the US Forest Service. It is located in Milford, Pennsylvania, and was completed in 1886 by Gifford's father, James Pinchot, a successful businessman and philanthropist.
Today Grey Towers National Historic Site is 102 acres, and offers trails, various wayside exhibits, free visitor films, conference center, leadership training, free parking, visitor center, gifts shop, and ticketed museum tours.
We are excited for our new ambassadors to become stewards of Grey Towers NHS and promote the US Forest Service as we inspire future conservationists. For more information, contact Kristine Cochrane at kristine.cochrane@usda.gov.
