Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Web Designer. The Web Designer will be responsible for designing and creating web graphics, front-end development, and implementing responsive web design principles. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Designing and restructuring the organization’s website with current stories, events, news, and any related information critical to the organization’s operations.
  • Conduct thorough testing of the website on various platforms (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, iOS) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize technical skills to measure and analyze website traffic through tools like Google Analytics.
  • Design and optimize the organization’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to increase website visibility.
  • Research current and emerging website design and management trends and advise the senior management on the best technology.
  • Design organizational databases and information management systems to ensure data safety.
  • Diagnose network issues encountered by stakeholders and staff and recommend appropriate action.
  • Contribute to making the Organization’s information, communication, data policy, and strategic plan.
  • Assess the organization’s ICT needs and recommend the most appropriate software, hardware, and other IT requirements.
  • Any other relevant responsibility as advised by the team and management.

CREATS was founded in 2015 as a community-based organization in Homa Bay County, Kenya. The Organization was established by a group of young professionals from the community led by Willis Ochieng and the late George Opiyo. The motivation for establishing CREATS was out of the deep passion to transform our communities from surviving to thriving. At the core, CREATS' founders were inspired to collaborate with the community to dismantle social, cultural, political, and economic barriers holding the community from thriving.
