Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT: Photography changes lives. Photographers not only engage in artmaking, but the act of photographing also motivates those that use a camera to find themselves through individual self-expression and to act to identify and empathize with the points of view of others. Through photography, humans find new ways to speak while adding meaning and substance to their lives. The Photographer’s Eye has been created with these ideals in mind, to educate the public about the language of photography and to encourage and foster the growth of photography as an art in the community.

Description

We are a group of photographers who have a passionate dedication to photography and we hope to enrich the community through sharing our knowledge and expertise. Our gallery exhibitions feature fine photography by our Collective Members as well as curated shows of established and emerging photographers. Our space hosts classes, talks, workshops, and portfolio reviews and provides a meeting place for the thoughtful exchange of ideas. We have a burgeoning research library of fine photography books available to all whenever we are open. We have a rental Darkroom and one can sign up to use it through this website. We are part of the thriving Arts District of Escondido, and wish to be YOUR hub for the photographic arts.
