Lighthouse Guild is the leading not-for-profit healthcare organization dedicated to addressing and preventing vision loss. Our mission is to provide exceptional services that inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals. With Lighthouse Guild, people who are at risk for, or affected by, vision loss have access to all the resources necessary to lead full, independent, and productive lives. We provide services, research and education, and advocate to help people with low vision and blindness. Our vision is a world in which no person is limited by their visual capacity.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with groups that will be going outside for activities as well as in house activities. The volunteers will be shown and taught how to work with the visually impaired and their needs.

DETAILS OF SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: 1-2 hours per day will work. Preferably between 10:30am - 12:30pm and/or between 1pm-2pm. This will beneficial Monday through Friday or any day they can come, we will work with them as much as possible by scheduling activities around the volunteers.

Principle duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with groups going on walks, to the parks, in house activities such as bingo and others alike.

Qualifications:

- Prior Human Guide experience would be a plus but not a requirement.

Lighthouse Guild was officially formed in December 2013 when Jewish Guild Healthcare and Lighthouse International merged, to become the leading not-for-profit vision + healthcare organization. Drawing on more than 200 years of combined service, with histories dating back to 1914 and 1905, respectively, Lighthouse Guild’s experience is unmatched.

  • This is an ongoing opportunity that begins upon approval by staff members. Candidates must be available Monday-Friday from 10:00am -2:00pm, at least but not limited to one hour per week, plus any time required for planning and preparation.
