Riseboro Community Partnership esta buscando voluntarios que hablen español para reunirse en un café o hacer visitas a domicilio a un anciano en los vecindarios de Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Bedford - Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, Vinegar Hill, Fulton Ferry, Navy Yard, Red Hook, Carroll Gardens, Cobble HIll, Park Slope, Gowanus, Windsdor Terrace, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Fort Hamilton, Bensonhurst, and Bath Beach.

Descripción del Programa de Visitas Amistosas:

Nuestro programa busca voluntarios interesados en dedicar una hora a la semana para conversar por teléfono con un anciano confinado en su hogar. Muchos de nuestros mayores están aislados de las interacciones comunitarias y buscan compañeros con quienes compartir risas, conversaciones y momentos agradables.

Los voluntarios pueden interactuar con los mayores de tres maneras:

  1. Llamadas telefónicas uno a uno: Dedicar una hora a la semana para conversar con un anciano.
  2. Visitas a domicilio: Visitar a los mayores en sus hogares para jugar ajedrez, juegos de cartas, dominó, conversar y escuchar música.
  3. Llamadas grupales: Facilitar llamadas grupales donde los mayores puedan participar juntos.

Este programa fomenta amistades mutuamente gratificantes, permitiéndote conocer a los ancianos de tu vecindario, sus intereses, estilos artísticos y los cambios en la comunidad a lo largo de los años.

Servimos a un grupo diverso de personas mayores y buscamos voluntarios de todos los orígenes y edades (mayores de 18 años) para ayudar a nuestros mayores a sentirse más conectados con sus comunidades.

Mission Statement

In 2008, RBSCC was awarded the Case Management Program by the New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA). The RBSCC DFTA Case Management Department provides homebound seniors residing in Community Boards # 1, 3, 4 in Brooklyn with comprehensive strength-based intakes and in-home assessments. The Case Management Department also provides our homebound Seniors with our Friendly Visiting Program, which provides companionship to our homebound seniors. All services approved by our department are funded by the New York City Department for the Aging.

Description

The Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council was founded in 1973 as a senior service provider in the Ridgewood and Bushwick communities. At the heart of its mission was a deep commitment to empowering individuals and supporting families through the creation and facilitation of a thriving and healthy environment where growth and prosperity are possible. Since its founding, RBSCC has grown tremendously and its scope of services has extended far beyond that of its early years. Today it provides a vast array of social services to residents of all ages within the Bushwick, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, East New York, Ridgewood, Glendale, and surrounding Brooklyn and Queens communities. Serving thousands each year, the RBSCC has assisted countless community residents since 1973.
