Do you share our vision of a community beyond poverty and oppression where all people have equitable opportunity to thrive?Join Solid Ground as we celebrate half a century of progress towards solving poverty by participating in a community volunteer project!

Roll up your sleeves and join us for our Day of Service Celebrating 50 Years! You’ll be in good company with 300+ Solid Ground community members as we gather across five Seattle volunteer sites to plant and tend to garden beds, beautify parks, clean up our Solid Ground Transportation’s ACCESS bus fleet, and more! Projects take place at the following Solid Ground sites and Seattle neighborhood parks:

  • Magnuson Park Cleanup (Sand Point)
  • Wallingford Playfield Park Cleanup (Wallingford)
  • Burke-Gilman Trail Cleanup (Fremont)
  • Marra Farm Giving Garden Work Party (South Park)
  • Transportation ACCESS Fleet Cleanup (South Park)

We’ll welcome you with coffee and pastries to fuel our collective work and provide water and snacks to sustain us through the morning.

We value collaboration and leadership from the communities we serve.


Our history...

Solid Ground was founded in 1974 by community leaders and concerned citizens of one of Seattle's then most economically devastated neighborhoods, Fremont. Originally called the Fremont Public Association, our services - emergency food bank, clothing bank, and employment program - reflected the desperate needs and determined response of a mobilized and committed neighborhood.

Solid Ground today...

As the scope and severity of homelessness and poverty have increased over the years, so too have our reach to our greater community and our range of services. Now based in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, our 30 programs and services help more than 60,000 households each year overcome poverty and build better futures throughout King County and beyond.
