Join our team as a Sibling Support Volunteers, providing essential childcare for siblings while their brother or sister attends occupational therapy sessions. Your role is to create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for these children, allowing their parents to focus on the therapy session with peace of mind. As a Sibling Support Volunteer, you will supervise and engage with siblings in age-appropriate activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will foster a positive and inclusive environment, communicate effectively with parents and therapy staff. Volunteering as a Sibling Support Volunteer offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families, gain valuable experience in childcare and volunteer service, and join a supportive and passionate community of volunteers. Description

Section 2. Specific Purposes.

The specific purpose of Old Mill Center for Children and Families is to partner with the Corvallis and surrounding Benton County communities to help children and families thrive through services and resources targeting the safety, support, and success of all children. General areas of programs and services offered to fulfill this mission include:

(a) PRIMARY PREVENTION efforts aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect; educating and empowering new parents; providing the physical and emotional resources needed to facilitate healthy, lasting family relationships; reducing the effects of major stressors on family functioning; and advancing general understanding of the role of safety and security in positive childhood development in all families.

(b) SUPPORTIVE EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES designed to address individual and family problems or areas for growth that inhibit or preclude the emotional, social, physical, and educational development of children in positive, nurturing family environments.

(c) EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY efforts that increase awareness of childhood problems and their causes; create and propagate effective, collaborative relationships between child and family resources in the community; increase understanding and appreciation of diversity in families in the community; and make access to resources effective and available for all families.
