A Direct Care Volunteer must posses the ability to actively listen and communicate compassionately with patients, families and caregives at the end-of-life stage. He/She will have the ability to work as a team with family members and the hospice staff. He/She must have ability to respect patient/family belief systems, emotional maturity and sensitivity. Must be dependable and have access to relible transportation. He/She must have an understanding of Hospice philosophy and goals and be willing to participate in peer support.
Activities can include: Sharing a story, Holding a hand, Sending a card, Making Gifts, Reading Singing, Playing Games, Run Errands, Light House keeping.
Veteran to Veteran Support needed.
All Direct Care Volunteers must be 18 years and be able to complete a Drug test, TB Test and Background Check.
