At The Peninsula College Fund, we're gearing up for our annual Career Exploration Fair on July 13th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, and we're on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers! In this event, volunteers will have the chance to speak with 2-4 students via 1:1 VIRTUAL meetings (20 minutes long) and share about their career trajectory!

We're eager to bridge the opportunity gap by introducing our scholars to diverse career paths. As first-generation students, our scholars do not have the resources or knowledge to connect with professionals in the field so we aim to provide and facilitate this space through our career fair.

Volunteer today to share your career trajectory and experience with first-gen students!

About Peninsula College Fund

Location:

526 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower low-income, first generation college students to graduate and obtain a job that aligns with their career goals.

Description

Our comprehensive program includes four key components:

Scholarships: Each student receives a scholarship of $3,000/year for all four years of college. Our goal is to provide scholars with the necessary funds to allow them to attend the college that is the best fit academically, financially, and socially.

One-to-One Mentoring: We carefully match each scholar with one caring adult who provides support, counsel, friendship, networking, and positive role modeling to help each student complete college. We provide our mentors with on-going training and continuously evaluate and improve our mentoring program. Our goals are to help fill the gaps in knowledge about the college experience that first-generation college students often experience, and provide the support and example that enable our scholars to overcome the challenges on the path to graduation.

Summer Internships: We identify and develop paid and volunteer summer internships for our scholars. Our goals are to expose our students to different career opportunities, help them network for post-graduation careers, and earn income to assist in financing their education.

College Success Workshops: We provide all students with targeted, in-depth workshops to give them the tools for college completion and career readiness. Our goal is to build knowledge and peer support to prepare scholars in each year of college.
