ORGANIZATION: AEROSTAR AVION INSTITUTE

AeroStar Avion Institute is in the final weeks of preparing for our 5 th- 8 th grade Summer Program for 2024 and we are in need of volunteers to ensure our summer program provides our students with a lot of fun learning activities this year!

This year’s summer program runs from Monday, July 1, 2024, to Thursday, August 8, 2024. Program days are Monday - Thursday each week from 9am - 1pm at Olive Harvey College in Chicago.

Scheduling for volunteer days is very flexible, you can volunteer as much (or as little) as you would like, based on our program needs. We have the following volunteer opportunities available:

Classroom assistants - minimum 4 days during the program session, 2 hours per day (9am-11am or 11am-1pm)

Guest speakers - minimum 2 days during the program session, 1 hour per day (hours flexible)

Field trip chaperones for one day at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 - Day trip (depart and return times TBD)

Description

The AeroStar Avion Institute delivers programs that teach skills necessary to not just participate, but LEAD in the next generation of STEM innovation. Students are immersed in inquiry-based learning, engineering design projects, they operate flight simulators, remote-controlled helicopters, drones, RC airplanes and VR headsets. They also build model airplanes and rockets to specifications. They study and demonstrate extensive knowledge on flight theory, aviation weather, aircraft radio operation, aircraft cockpit instrumentation and STEM careers. We soar above other programs because we provide years of ongoing support to students interested in pursuing pathways in Aviation/STEM.
