If you are a talented, proactive, and motivated person with a passion for marketing and a desire to make your own hours, we encourage you to apply as a Marketing Volunteer. Marketing Volunteers work independently and collaboratively with our volunteer team, and they also play a key role in ensuring that our nonprofit recruits the best volunteers and successfully advertises our free services.

Volunteer Role:

  • Appropriately distribute materials and post flyers in your community.
  • Brainstorm, research, develop, and pitch ideas for creative, effective, and low-cost marketing.
  • Serve as an ambassador and share information about us throughout your network; advocate and educate others about our services and volunteer program.
  • Research, brainstorm, and strategize new marketing plans: volunteer recruitment, presentations and Medicare counseling advertisements, and increasing awareness for the annual Medicare open enrollment periods.
  • Regularly consult and brainstorm with volunteer coordinators, obtaining approval of all materials or externally facing initiatives before moving forward.
  • Provide regular updates to volunteer coordinators.
  • Help with volunteer recruitment for specific roles. Refine and critique our current volunteer online postings, our volunteer page on our website, our current recruitment strategies, and our volunteer position descriptions to better advertise to prospective volunteers.
  • If desired, help develop content for social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Document all marketing processes and activities.
  • Gain an understanding of Trellis and the Senior Linkage Line by watching videos and browsing the Trellis website/social media.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Time management, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Strong computer skills. Being comfortable using Microsoft Suite, navigating web browsers, emailing, talking on the phone, video chatting, and using social media (primarily LinkedIn and Facebook).
  • Creativity and curiosity; we welcome new ideas and strategies!
  • Self-motivation and proactivity. This role is best suited for someone who likes to "get things done."
  • A desire to get involved in your community and to spread the word about services that help your family, friends, and neighbors.
  • A resume, portfolio, or a link to your public LinkedIn profile.
  • Professional/volunteer experience or education in marketing, recruiting, advertising, communication, social/print media, journalism, graphic design, etc.
  • Have your own computer with reliable internet access and a way to make phone calls (if needed).
  • Sensitivity to the needs of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other diverse populations.
  • Compliance with agency’s non-conflict of interest, confidentiality, and other policies.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Time Investment:

  • Marking volunteers are expected to volunteer at least 6 hours per month, and they are expected to regularly check in with a volunteer coordinator.
  • Volunteer for as long as you want to. This could be a long-term volunteer commitment, or it could be for a few months. Let us know what you would like.


  • Support an unbiased nonprofit that helps older adults in our community stay independent, healthy, and supported.
  • Build your portfolio and resume.
  • Our volunteers are provided with a Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Be part of a collaborative, supportive, and creative team that loves to brainstorm and try new ideas.
