55th Annual Ted Rhodes Charity Golf Tournament - Volunteer Opportunities (In-Person)

This annual charity two day golf outing celebrates the legacy of golf pioneer and golf trailblazer Ted Rhodes and is a fundraiser for the HBCU School Fisk University Golf Team and Junior Golf Program First Tee of Tennessee. We are expecting between 75-100 male and female amateur golfers from across the country.

The volunteers are a very important part of this golf outing. We are looking for people that have great communication and leadership skills. Also, people that have a basic knowledge of golf is preferred.

In-Person Opportunities

Saturday, September 7, 2024 or Sunday, September 8, 2024

The set up team will work from 6:30 a.m .- 8:30 a.m. and are a pivotal part of the team ensuring all banners, signs, and materials are set up and ready to go prior to the arrival of the golfers and that everything looks great prior to the arrival of the golfers.

The Drive Range team will work from 6:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and set up the drive range and manage the driving range prior to the golf tournament. (Opportunities for Teenagers & College students)

The greeters team will work from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and greet the golfers as they arrive to the golf course, direct them to the check in area, and make them feel welcome.

The check in team will work from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and tell the golfers the starting hole and direct them to the continental breakfast and their golf cart.

The hospitality team will work from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. will take water and snacks to the golfers on the golf course.

The 19th Hole volunteers will work from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.. After the event concludes about 2:00 p.m. , the 19th Hole volunteers will direct the golfers on where to take their scorecards and then direct them to the 19th Hole Celebration for their meal and awards ceremony. Lastly, assist with the clean up process.

Our mission is to preserve and honor the legacy of golfing pioneer Theodore "Ted" Rhodes.

Description

Ted Rhodes’ vision was to make the game of golf open to all races. The Foundation is honoring his vision by creating pipelines of African Americans to work in the golf industry as golfers or professionals working in the golf industry by hosting educational events, golf clinics, and golf tournaments for youth and adults. Our youth program is Future Golfers of America " Growing the Champions of Tomorrow’. We provide financial support to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) golf programs and golf team members to help further this mission. We also partner with local urban youth golf programs. Opening doors to the world of golf.
