Who We Are

Respond Crisis Translation is a collective of language activists providing compassionate, effective, and trauma-informed interpretation and translation services for migrants, refugees, and anyone experiencing language barriers. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer that can help our team find the best grant opportunities to increase our funding and further our mission.

What We Need

We are looking for support on our grant writing team from someone who is passionate about language access and justice work!

Role + Responsibilities

This role is research focused and requires the ability to 1) understand grant requirements and focus areas, 2) to do grant prospect research; 3) determine if RCT is a good match for certain grants and 4) collaborate with other members to determine prioritization level for each grant application.

In this role, you will work in collaboration with our development team, our operations team, our language team leads, and our executive director to:

  • Conduct research to find grant opportunities that look like a good fit for our work

  • Research foundations that fund the work of our partner organizations

  • Go through our grant pipeline and do research to determine whether each grant is a good fit for Respond

  • Track all research and research notes in Airtable

  • Prioritize high value outreach and grant applications

  • Begin working on rough draft grant applications

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable using Google Drive, Sheets and Docs

  • Comfortable using (or learning how to use) Airtable or similar Project Management tool

  • Comfortable using WhatsApp

  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as communicate effectively

Respond Crisis Translation is a network of volunteer translators providing compassionate, effective, and trauma-informed interpretation and translation services for migrants, refugees, and anyone experiencing language barriers.

Description

Respond Crisis Translation values language democracy and believe in the right to equality of access and services for people of any and all nationalities, origins, and native languages. We provide translation and interpretation support for over 500 NGOs, human rights groups and lawyers, and nonprofits that provide pro bono support to refugees and asylum seekers. We support over 100 languages and have over 700 volunteers around the world.
