ORGANIZATION: Washington Autism Alliance

WAAA volunteers
We appreciate you volunteering with WAAA!

The WAA Development Committee is responsible for the financial support of WAA’s programs and services, the quality and quantity of volunteer participation in WAA, and the internal and external image of WAA. The committee oversees the fundraising programs of WAA, sets the vision for special events such as the annual gala, oversees ambassador and guest development, menu, decor, entertainment and more.

The Development Committee is responsible for promoting a positive image of WAA with the public, professionals and consumers of services and for helping to increase the understanding of the objectives and programs of WAA.

The WAA Gala relies on the incredible generosity of our amazing community to make sure the event is successful. Your volunteer support also ensures that dollars raised go towards the individual and family support rather than to the cost of running the event. Our community is truly amazing -each year, current and former families, staff, and other champions of the WAA come together to ensure a successful event. As a member of the WAA and autism community, you all help support the mission and activities of the WAA. Without you, our team could not identify the best practices that will shape healthcare and education for all people with intellectual and developmental disorders including autism. Without you, the WAA could not support children, youth, adults and their families and staff members who will be advocates for change beyond the WAA and will help make access a reality.

Activities include:

  • Develop event theme/logo/materials/program

  • Manage event logistics (menu/decor)

  • Recruit and manage volunteers/committees

  • Cultivate event Ambassadors (table captains/Board members/community influencers)

  • Auction item procurement

  • Overall management of auction event

  • Coordinate with fellow co-chair and WAA staff liaisons

  • Attend monthly meetups and collaborate with event team
