Do you have expertise in finance, legal, media marketing, digital & social media marketing, organizational development, project management, fundraising, community management, leadership, or business? Leverage your skills to support Grandmothers’ Village Project (GVP) in delivering excellence in affordable, net-zero elder housing, complete with a regenerative organic farm and a retreat/eco-education center.

About Grandmothers’ Village Project:

GVP is dedicated to fostering community through engagement, programs, and resources for elders (over 50 years of age). We offer community, relationship-building, education, resources, and more. As a nonprofit Intentional Community organization, we are committed to building eco-sustainable, net-zero housing for low and moderate income BIPOC grandmothers/fathers in an environmentally safe and ecologically sound "Grandmothers’ Village." Our mission promotes social, economic, environmental, housing, food, and spiritual justice while strengthening democracy for our BIPOC Elder Women/Grandmothers, and Grandfathers.

Board of Directors Statement of Purpose:

Our board members are pivotal in supporting GVP through mission-based leadership, financial oversight, enhancing public standing, and ensuring legal integrity.

Individual Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Increase awareness of and attendance at GVP events.
  • Review and guide the organization’s financial decisions.Assist in identifying and recruiting board members, supporters, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Constituent Advisory Council to ensure board initiatives are community-informed.
  • Undertake special assignments and initiatives aligned with your expertise.
  • Serve as an ambassador for GVP.
  • Make a financial contribution you can afford and include GVP in at least one of your three charitable contributions at least annually.

Length of Terms: Board Members will serve a three-year term, with a review after the first year, and eligibility to renew at the end of each term.

Frequency of Board Meetings:

Monthly board meetings and quarterly review meetings, unless otherwise indicated (virtual). There may be other considerations (events, special projects, etc.) that require meetings.

Remuneration:

Service on GVP’s Board of Directors is voluntary and unpaid, with reimbursement for costs incurred during board activities.

Fundraising:

Board Members should prioritize GVP in their philanthropic efforts and help solicit contributions from foundations, individuals, and organizations. While financial contributions are not mandatory, annual donations commensurate with one’s capacity are encouraged.

Qualifications:

This is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals passionate about GVP’s mission, with a track record of leadership or professional accomplishment. Selected Board Members will have demonstrated leadership in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.
