To meet the unique needs of end-of-life care for Veterans, Hospice of Cincinnati is participating in the We Honor Veterans initiative, which is a collaboration between the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
As part of this We Honor Veterans initiative we have started a Buddy Bear program. These handmade Buddy Bears are presented to Veteran patients to represent the fellow solider that was always by their side, and always had their back.
We are looking for individuals or groups to make these Buddy Bears for our Veteran Volunteers to present to our Veteran Patients. The bears are just a small stuffed animal that you could make however you would like. All we ask is that use material that is the pattern of army fatigues/camouflage.
We also like to provide Veteran Pillow Cases to our Veteran Patients on Veterans Day in little care packages we put together. All we ask for the Veteran Pillow Cases is that a patriotic pattern be used.
Both of these sewing projects are on going and we like to collect all year long. You can drop off your completed Buddy Bears or Pillow Cases to any of our 4 Inpatient Care Centers.
Hospice of Cincinnati has 700 patients across six counties. Chances are, we have a patient in your area who will greatly benefit from skills and kindness.
Reach out to us today to help us honor our Veterans!
