Scottsdale Public Library

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Scottsdale Library Computer Learning Group recruitment event on Aug. 16th.

We are a group of passionate individuals that, after spending a lot of time learning and developing skills in different technologies, give back to the community by sharing that knowledge with others.

We have many opportunities for you to participate, including being a coach that supports an instructor at one of our many classes, being an instructor, giving a Tech Talk, developing learning material and even being an 'Expert" at one of our 'Ask The Expert" sessions. We provide flexibility in how you participate and how many hours you wish to volunteer.

If interested in being part of our organization or just want some additional information, please join us on August 16 th from 1:30PM to 3PM at the Appaloosa Library at 7377 E. Silverstone Drive. Looking forward to meeting you!

About Scottsdale Public Library

Location:

3839 N Drinkwater Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, US

Mission Statement

Putting people at the heart of dynamic library service.

Description

Located in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, Scottsdale, Arizona is bordered by Phoenix to the west and the McDowell Mountains on the east. Scottsdale is annually rated among the nation's most desirable communities to live in, visit and do business in.

History of Scottsdale Public Library

The Scottsdale Public Library was started in the summer of 1955 by Lou Ann Noel and Beth Fielder. Located in the un-air-conditioned Adobe House, which at the time served as a community center, the library was originally open for only two hours, two mornings a week, and its collection consisted of 300 donated books.

In 1959 the Friends of the Library, a non-profit, community organization made up entirely of volunteers, was organized to support and fund-raise for the library. In 1960 the City of Scottsdale assumed responsibility for the library and hired the first professionally trained librarian. Later, the City hired additional paid staff to keep up with the demands of the community and, in 1968, opened a new 37,000-square-foot main library.
