The vision of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a community where everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities and is a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. Our work is focused on Western Washington County, Oregon (Forest Grove, Cornelius, Gaston, North Plains, Gales Creek, Banks, Timber, Buxton and the surrounding areas).

When you volunteer with West Tuality Habitat for Humanity in Western Washington County, Oregon, you join hundreds of people from your community who believe in the cause of affordable housing. Everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live and volunteers help make it happen.

We do not require construction or repair skills or previous experience to volunteer with us on a home building project, but having some skills can give you more opportunities to help. So we are once again sponsoring a Women Build event: a morning event made up of a series of tool clinics to help anyone become more comfortable using a variety of tools - hammers, saws, drills and more - and to help create a more welcoming, inclusive environment for women who might feel shy or unsure about helping out at Habitat build and repair projects, as well as a way to help folks learn basic skills that can help them in their own home repair projects.

In addition to building homes, West Tuality Habitat also provides critical home repairs for vulnerable home owners - seniors, people with disabilities, people recovering from serious illnesses, people who cannot afford the critical home repairs they need, etc. These repairs help improve the homeowners quality of life, improve the safety of their homes, and often extend their time in their homes, allowing them to age in place. Once you get training at our Women Build event, you will be welcomed to join our repair team as a volunteer for a day, or even on an ongoing basis.

Please note that women are ALWAYS welcomed to ANY Habitat construction or home repair project - you do not have to ever wait to be involved with West Tuality Habitat for Humanity! This Women’s Build is meant specifically for those who might feel a bit of hesitation about such participation and want to be more comfortable in using basic construction and repair tools.

Men are welcomed to participate in the Women Build event, or any Habitat construction or repair projects. While the Women Build event is focused on improving the inclusion of women in the work of building homes, the initiative does not exclude volunteers of any gender or gender identity, nor does it allow discrimination of any kind.

You can absolutely express interest here on VolunteerMatch to participate, but please note that you need to officially register via our web site:

Hard hats, safety vests, and protective glasses are provided and are to be worn at all times. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes or boots and to wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on or getting dirty. Layering clothing is recommended as temperatures can change throughout the day. Volunteers are asked to wear rain pants and a jacket if you may be working in the rain - and remember, we work rain or shine.

We strongly discourage you from bringing valuables, including jewelry, to our worksites. Personal power tools are not allowed. There is no smoking, drugs, or alcohol allowed on our worksites.

Participants go through an onsite safety training and must follow our Code of Conduct, which is available on our web site and is posted at the work site.
