ORGANIZATION: National MS Society, Upstate New York

Bike MS logo

Bike MS: ROC the Great Lakes journey starts right between Buffalo and Rochester. From there, this one-day ride will have participants cycling along the scenic shoreline of Lake Ontario and the rural roads of western New York.

We need volunteer support to help this event run smoothly. CPR/First Aid certified volunteers are needed at the start/finish area and at rest stops along the route to ensure safety of the participants. These volunteers may need to respond to minor medical incidents - cuts or scrapes from bike falls, minor cases of dehydration, etc. Medical emergencies will be handled by dialing 911.

Please submit your interest in volunteering here, and you will be contacted with more details. Or, send an email to:

Travis Hughes, Volunteer Engagement Specialist,

Thank you!

Mission Statement

To help create a world free of MS.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and fifty-state network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers three key fundraising activities: The Bike MS Ride, Walk MS and Walk MS Challenge. The Society also engages volunteers to help influence law-makers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as: marketing communications, public relations, corporate and donor development, medical, legal, administrative and organizational expertise.
