ORGANIZATION: The Nature Conservancy in Ohio

First Impressions of preserves is very important to the overall experience visitors have. Native plant welcome gardens will be the first thing that people see when visiting the Grand River Conservation Campus, Bissell Nature Center, and Kitty Todd Preserve. These gardens serve as an educational tool to help preserve visitors to learn to identify and appreciate the diversity of native plants that exists in the region. This position requires volunteers to stoop, kneel, and get dirty while removing weeds from the gardens and transplanting native plants between beds.

· What you can expect to work on: removing weeds and non-native plants from the demo garden area, planting of new plugs/shrubs, clearing plant debris, mulching and watering as necessary.

· Region: Northwest Ohio- Kitty Todd Preserve & Northeast Ohio- Bissell Nature Center

· Time Commitment: 2 hours/week, March - October

· Who would you report to: Angela Burke and/or regional preserve staff or lead Staff Volunteer

· Training required: Native Plant identification and gardening skills including invasive/weedy plant ID/removal. Perfect for any Certified Naturalist or Master gardener.
