The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is currently seeking a Volunteer Program Outreach Intern. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public outreach and community engagement while contributing to ecological restoration and land conservation efforts.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC) is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the conservation of natural open space and restoring native habitats on the Palos Verdes Peninsula for the enjoyment and education of all.

As a Public Outreach intern, you will play an important role in engaging with local community members and promoting our organization's mission to diverse audiences at public events such as local festivals. You will also work with the Volunteer Program Manager to support volunteer recruitment and coordination efforts at our office in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Through this role, you will gain skills in public communications and community engagement, leadership, environmental education, project management, event planning, volunteer recruitment and coordination, digital advertising/social media marketing, and data collection. Y ou will gain insight into local land conservation efforts and receive firsthand knowledge about the recovery efforts for endangered species, such as the Palos Verdes blue butterfly, from conservation professionals. You will provide logistical support for events, track volunteer participation, and maintain accurate records of outreach activities and participant engagement.

Requirements: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences. Candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Must be available to work on Wednesdays/Saturdays/some Sundays, have access to a vehicle to transport outreach materials to events, and be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Experience with Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with social media platforms preferred.

This a 17 hour per week position, offers a stipend of up to $5000 over a four-month period to support your experience and learning, and is available for immediate start.
