Events Operations - Setup/Breakdown

Purpose: Serves as a volunteer for HTX4Ukraine community fundraising events to assist with physical setup and breakdown. No prior knowledge about Ukraine is required.

Responsibilities:

• At minor events (for example, single 10ft x 10ft tent with small tables, chairs, and some merchandise) where HTX4Ukraine is representing themselves at another event, you would find yourself helping to move needed items to the setup site, assist with assembly and/or disassembly of the setup and repacking into the car at the direction of on-site coordinator.
  
  
• At major events (For example, when HTX4Ukraine is the primary host of the event, using up most of a hall, ballroom, or parking area) you would find yourself helping various section coordinators on-site for their particular needs with setup and/or breakdown. This may involve outdoor signage, roping off boundaries, routing electrical, assisting vendors to load in or out, table decoration, and many other activities.

Desired Skillset:

• Fast Learner - Able to quickly understand and perform instructions given. Major events, especially the cookoff, will require quick efforts to keep things running smoothly.
  
  
• Teamwork spirit. The organization runs fully on volunteer efforts, and we're all in it to save lives in Ukraine.
  
  
• Honest and Self Aware. Ability to own your mistakes and seek help without trying to hide problems allows the whole team to see where training and instructions can be improved.

Future Event Operations Opportunities:

• Helping run events - Depending on individual events, there can be opportunities as an Event Coordinator within Events Operations to stay on hand during the event to sell merchandise, assist cookoff teams (at our famous annual cookoff), bartend, assist entertainment artists, etc.
  
  
• Informing the public - Event Operations Volunteers showing a deep and accurate knowledge of Ukraine, its culture and traditions, and can demonstrate an ability to use this information to correct inaccurate information about Ukraine and its people on the spot, may potentially be given opportunities during events on the Events Operations Public Engagement team. We will ask that Event Operations individuals that feel they have these qualifications wait until they are validated as part of Public Engagement before attempting these types of conversations at events.
