Recruiting Organization: YMCA of Silicon Valley

Overview of the Event: In partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes, the YMCA is running a youth soccer tournament, which will then transition into a COPA America watch party at the East Valley YMCA where we will be viewing the Mexico Jamaica soccer game.

We are looking for volunteers with the ability to coach and or referee youth soccer for this single day community tournament. You will be asked to encourage, motivate, and instruct youth soccer players to perform to the best of their abilities and have fun!

Those interested in this opportunity may also volunteer at the family event, in which they will help facilitate the event by performing duties such as overseeing the registration table, and supervising bouncy houses and other outdoor areas.

Functions of Volunteers:

Coach Needed: 18

Shift time 12-5:30

1. Actively engage with approximately 10 youth on your team to create a fun, welcoming environment.

2. Facilitate short sided soccer games for youth.

3. Plan and facilitate 30 minutes of practice with your team.

Referees needed: 9

1. Officiate small sided youth soccer games.

2. Encourage hard work, teamwork, and a fun atmosphere for the youth involved.

Shift:1:00pm-5:30pm

Event Facilitator needed: 6 (3 for each session)

1. Oversee family event functions such as standing near exits, directing people, supervising lawn games, and supervising bouncy houses.

Shift time A 2:00pm-5:00pm, B 5pm-8pm. Volunteers are welcome to stay for both shifts.
