JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The volunteer provides administrative patient care and
support services according to his/her experience and training and in compliance
with organization policies. The volunteer will provide general office duties.
The volunteer will utilize customer service skills for all patients and their
families.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary
group administrative duties.
2. Participates in general orientation.
3. Serves the patient and family/caregiver under guidance of
Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager or as a part of the administrative team.
4. Demonstrates professional, courteous demeanor, positive
attitude, strong work ethics and the ability to collaborate in a constructive
manner with others in a dynamic working environment.
5. Meets all health requirements set by the organization.
6. Participates in volunteer support groups and/or
educational in-services.
7. Maintains open communication and reports regularly to the
Volunteer Coordinator.
8. Participates in quality assessment performance
improvement teams and activities.
9. Participates in interdisciplinary group meetings, as
appropriate.
10. Sort mail, send information packets to patients and patient’s family members, and greet
visitors.
11. Work on miscellaneous projects, as needed.
12. Walk visitors to their destination.
13. Volunteers perform only those responsibilities listed in
their area and if they are not sure, must contact the Volunteer Coordinator. If
the task can be completed by the Volunteer, the Volunteer Coordinator will add
it to the job description.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1. Mature individual, supportive of the hospice concept,
comfortable with his/her own spirituality and willing to serve others in a volunteer
capacity.
2. Successful completion of Heritage Crossing volunteer and
orientation program.
3. Ability to work within the interdisciplinary group.
4. Being a motivated self-starter.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. The ability to multitask efficiently.
