The youth tutoring program involves being matched with a refugee youth to help them with English practice and/or general high school course material for a period of 6 months. The youth in the program are typically ages 14-19, and the courses range from beginner subjects in English, math, science, history, and computers. The volunteer will be matched with the youth(s) by the youth tutor coordinator based on a prior screening conversation. Spanish speaking is a plus, but it is not required. Tutors also get invited to a variety of Bethany community events and the annual celebration banquet.
