Mission Statement
Defeating Lung Cancer, Bringing Hope Worldwide! A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation fights lung cancer by funding innovative U.S. lung cancer research, raising awareness and supporting lung cancer patients and families.
Description
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation was founded in 2008 by a group of lung cancer patients who were concerned about the lack of awareness and research funding for lung cancer, the deadliest of all cancers. Societal blame has long held lung cancer in the shadow of other less deadly cancers, leaving a public that does not understand the risks, nor recognize symptoms. Currently, only 26.6% of those diagnosed will live five years following their diagnosis, and 60% of those diagnosed are nonsmokers. To raise awareness about lung cancer is to create a path toward improved wellness, earlier detection, and an increased survival rate. To this end, A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation holds events to raise awareness and help fund research focused on creating more survivors in our country. We also host programs that provide rides, companionship, and support groups to those who face cancer without the support they need.
