This is a volunteer unpaid position for a commitment of 6 months or a 1 year. Depending on your preference.

The Director of Grant Writing is responsible for leading the organization’s efforts to secure funding from private foundations, government agencies, corporations, and other grant-making entities. This role involves overseeing the entire grant application process and identifying funding opportunities to writing proposals and managing grant compliance. The Director of Grant Writing collaborates closely with various departments to align funding requests with organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Grant Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant strategy that aligns with the organizations mission and strategic objectives. And identify potential grant opportunities and funding sources through research and networking
  • Create an annual grants calendar to manage application deadlines and reporting requirements.

2)Proposal Development:

  • Lead the writing, editing, and submission of high-quality grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with programs staff to gather information and data necessary for proposals
  • Ensure proposals are tailored to the specific interests and requirements of each funder.

3) Grant Management and Compliance:

  • Oversee the administration of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all funding requirements.
  • Monitor grant-funded projects to ensure they are progressing according to plan and meeting deliverables.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to funders in a timely manner.

4)Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential funders.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with funders and at relevant events.
  • Communicate the impact and value of grant-funded projects to stakeholders.

5) Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Supervise and mentor grant writing intern or staff, as needed.
  • Work celibately with finance department to develop project budgets for grant proposals.
  • Coordinate with program directors and other staff to ensure cohesive and compelling proposals.

6)Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and analyze the outcome of grant submissions and funding received.
  • Provide regular reports to Executive Director of 902 Youth on grant activities and outcomes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of grant strategies and make recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising, preferably in a non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record of securing significant grant funding.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using excel and other grant management software’s.
  • Knowledge of grant compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
