Alabama Hospice Care of East Alabama pairs veteran hospice patients with veteran volunteers. Sharing common military experiences, our volunteers possess a unique ability to relate to and connect with fellow veterans, providing the compassionate support and service they rightfully deserve.
A NEW OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE
Veteran volunteers offer both direct and indirect patient support. Activities include:
- Sitting, reminiscing, or reading with patients
- Writing letters
- Watching television or listening to music
- Participating in veteran recognition ceremonies
- Performing light house or yard work
- Walking dogs
- Assisting in the replacement of lost military awards
- Providing check-in calls
As end-of-life care specialists and proud partners of the "We Honor Veterans" program, our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program equips volunteers with the necessary training to support military service veterans and their families with in-home hospice care.
