About Jacob's Chance Inc.

Location:

7338 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23228, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Jacob's Chance is to promote wellness for special needs youth and young adults through exercise, education, volunteerism, skills training and socialization. Outreach programs help to foster understanding and acceptance of special needs youth and their families by the greater community.

Description

Through shared activities, athletics, socialization and education we promote unique opportunities for these often isolated youth to fully participate in activities that may be available through local athletic leagues, schools, and community centers but for which their disability (ies) often excludes them. Jacob's Chance is unique in that participation is open to all special needs children and young adults regardless of diagnosis. Athletic and activity programs are offered free of charge to all participants. Programs are operated with a focus on inclusion and children and adults without disability participate alongside those with disabilities.

River City Buddy Ball is in its 6th year of operation. The mission of this program is to promote wellness through exercise and establish relationships between disabled participants and peer and adult volunteers through athletic programs. River City Buddy Ball began with a baseball program and has added cheerleading, tennis, and flag football over the past two years.
