Are you passionate about language learning and cultural exchange? The Enlighten Project is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our Pen Pal Program, aimed at enriching the educational experience of ESL students at Lee High School in Lee, Massachusetts. This unique initiative connects ESL students with pen pals from around the world to enhance their English skills and expose them to new cultures. As a Pen Pal, you will engage in regular correspondence with ESL students, playing a key role in their language development and cultural education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly exchange letters or emails with your assigned ESL student.
- Share about your culture, experiences, and interests to enrich the student's understanding of the world.
- Assist in language learning by providing friendly feedback on their English usage.
- Commit to maintaining this correspondence twice a month to foster a consistent and supportive relationship.

Description
At The Enlighten Project, our mission is to transform the lives of underprivileged children in youth shelters, juvenile detention facilities, and impoverished neighborhoods through enhanced access to digital education and technological resources. We believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive and build a brighter future in an increasingly digital world.
We work closely with libraries, community centers, and other organizations to offer not just educational opportunities, but also access to technology, including devices and internet connectivity. We also understand that educational essentials such as basic school supplies remain crucial for the well-being of these children, providing them with the security and support needed to focus on their digital learning journey.
Our work also involves raising awareness about the unique challenges faced by underprivileged children in adapting to digital education. We advocate for policies and programs that support their digital learning needs, and we are committed to forging strong bonds with families and caregivers in these communities, providing them with additional support and resources to navigate the digital landscape.
