Join Russian Riverkeeper in cleaning up the constant flow of trash entering Santa Rosa Creek before trash gets to the Russian River and ocean!

It’s easy to participate and we provide all the gloves, trash grabbers, and bags.

When you arrive at Olive Park, check-in with your team leader near the corner of Orange Street and Hazel Street.

From the check-in location, volunteers will be able to choose various walking routes along the creek based on where the trash is. Supplies will be provided if needed at check-in, but you are encouraged to bring a face mask, gloves, water, and other supplies if you have them.

Our regular cleanups will continue to remove litter from waterways before rains wash them to the ocean. We can’t save the ocean unless we stop sending our trash downstream. You can help us break that cycle! Together we can stop adding to the great Pacific Garbage Patch in the middle of the ocean (it’s as big as Texas!).

We look forward to working together for a cleaner watershed and Pacific Ocean.

About Russian Riverkeeper

Location:

PO Box 1335, Healdsburg, CA 95448, US

Mission Statement

Russian Riverkeeper serves all communities by restoring and sustaining the health of the Russian River, its tributaries, riparian corridors and uplands through citizen action, public education, scientific research and expert advocacy.

Description

Russian Riverkeeper has been fighting since 1993 to ensure a thriving river system and your rights to fishable, swimmable and drinkable waters.

With your help, Russian Riverkeeper will:

  • Adapt to climate change. As we face another year of unprecedented drought, we must go beyond emergency water conservation and permanently use less water in our homes, our businesses, and our agriculture.
  • Defend our rivers, streams, wetlands, and ocean by providing science-based advocacy and by influencing policy to better protect our watershed.
  • Tackle trash. Our Clean Team removes trash from the river 5 days a week and mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to help at special cleanup events throughout the year. Trash strangles our river ecosystem, our ocean, and the local economy that depends on clean water.
  • Restore healthy habitat to reduce flooding, keep our water clean and abundant, increase public recreation, and improve our climate resilience.
  • Educate & empower youth to become our next generation of environmental stewards.
