ORGANIZATION: LETS GO

In partnership with the Teen Science Cafe Network and George Washington University, LETS GO Boys and Girls is hosting a 4-week initiative designed to immerse K9-12 students in the latest advancements in science and technology. The program will offer students hands-on STEM activities, workshops, field trips, and interactions with industry professionals, allowing them to explore a wide array of STEM topics.

Under guidance and mentorship, and with a focus on individual strengths, students will collaborate with their peers to plan and execute their own Science Café event at the program's conclusion. This opportunity will enable students to take on key roles in all aspects of event planning, promoting teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Additionally, students will participate in workforce development and career readiness workshops, culminating in a digital portfolio showcasing their 4-week experience, including their biography, resume, and accomplishments.

LETS GO Boys and Girls is seeking a Career Development Workshop Facilitator/Volunteer to lead engaging (more hands-on) interactive sessions focused on introducing students to resume writing, elevator pitches, and LinkedIn, helping them present themselves effectively to future potential employers.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct workshops on resume writing, crafting elevator pitches, and optimizing LinkedIn profiles for job search success.
  • Provide individualized feedback and support to students, helping them refine their resumes and online profiles.
  • Teach participants how to create compelling elevator pitches that succinctly convey their professional value.
  • Share tips and best practices for building a professional and engaging LinkedIn presence.
  • Develop and update workshop materials and resources in collaboration with the LETS GO Boys and Girls team.
  • Foster a supportive and interactive learning environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of resume writing, personal branding, and professional networking.
  • Ability to provide constructive, empathetic feedback.
  • Experience in HR, recruitment, career coaching, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and other professional networking platforms.

In 2010, LETS GO was established as 501(c)(3) non-profit. LETS GO partners with schools and youth organizations in underserved communities who want to offer STEM education content and provides the materials, training, and support necessary to implement high quality STEM learning experiences. In the past decade, LETS GO has served over 7,000 K-12 students in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area by providing opportunities for them and their families to explore STEM fields, increase their awareness of STEM careers, and foster the academic and workforce skills necessary to empower them to successfully enter the 21st century workforce.

LETS GO partners with schools and youth organizations to establish high-quality, 'hands on, minds on,’ STEM programs for youth in underserved communities. We provide effective capacity-building support to our partners through strategic planning, program coordination and evaluation, hands-on instructor workshops and coaching, volunteer training, curriculum selection, and ready-to use materials.
