Monthly commitment to facilitate a caregiver support group for family members impacted by Alzheimer's Disease or another dementia. Groups take place throughout LI and ADRC is committed to starting new groups in underserved communities.

Caregiver support groups provide education and support while helping caregivers develop coping skills and a network of support.

Looking for previous experience with support groups and/or a connection with this community.

Training and ongoing support is provided. Opportunities throughout Nassau and Suffolk County.

The mission of ADRC is to provide care, support and educational programs for families in need, and to be advocates for local families who are coping with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

Description

Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center provides free care consultations, information & referrals, education, support groups, therapy programs for caregivers and their loved ones. We offer educational training to professional healthcare workers, graduate students, and other organizations throughout Long Island. All services are free of charge to Long Island families. Professional trainings in dementia care are fee based, but we also offer many workshops, CEU courses, and other programs that are free to professionals. We also offer outreach and educational presentations for community groups at no charge, providing information about services and programs and the disease itself.
