We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join the board for our small non-profit! We are a group of passionate professional women working toward equitable educational opportunities through scholarships to high-potential women of international background. In this position you'll be able to gain first-hand experience with a non-profit board and develop your leadership skills.

As Board Member-at-Large, you will have the opportunity to participate in different initiatives, including social media outreach, community building, and fundraising campaigns. We expect the next few years to focus on engaging scholars, donors, and supporters -- we're looking for a Board Member-at-Large to support this work. Initial commitment is one year, with the opportunity to pursue specific roles depending on interest. No prior board experience needed! Fundraising or social media experience would be immediately impactful, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  2. Working Group / Committee Meetings: Attend virtual meeting to advance initiatives (estimated 1 hour monthly).
  3. Scholarship Process: Participate in scholarship application review and scholar selection.
  4. Fundraising: Participate in group fundraising and community outreach efforts.
  5. Dues: Contribute $200 annually that directly funds scholarships. Dues can be personal contributions or fundraised.

Description

Red Thread Foundation for Women is dedicated to supporting the aspirations of women of international backgrounds pursuing higher education for the first time. Our founding members represent former international students, immigrants, and first-generation Americans who benefitted tremendously from academic and professional support, and decided to give back.

Our small nonprofit extends scholarship and mentorship support to women who draw strength from a rich, multicultural identity and who embody a spirit of international leadership. Since 2011, we have awarded over $22,000 in scholarship funds to women starting their college/university education.
