This position supports the Regional Service to the Armed Forces department. American Red Cross volunteer leaders work to ensure the delivery of a variety of VA programs and services to the veteran community. Provides over site of VAVS and/or all VA programs based on size and complexity of region programing.
LocationsSteuben County, Bath area preferred
Key Responsibilities * Willingness to support the Red Cross mission.
* Promote Red Cross and Veterans programs and activities
* Recruit and assign volunteers to meet a variety of community needs
* Responsible for team training and quality assurance
* May serve as American Red Cross volunteer leadership partners with the Red Cross Division/Region Management Team
Dependent upon leadership position, qualifications may include:
* Knowledge of VA protocol and culture;
* Knowledge of community resources
* Ability to work effectively with a team
* Ability to recruit and involve volunteers
* Strong communication skills, oral and written
* Basic computer skills
* Supervisory skills; ability to resolve local volunteer issues
* Knowledge of Red Cross structure
* Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
Established by the local Red Cross unit with a minimum of 10 hours per month
Development OpportunitiesAttend workshops as applicable to position with local community agencies and any applicable Red Cross training or meetings.
Gain leadership, management, and on-the-job experience.
