ORGANIZATION: BENEFITS IN ACTION

Help reduce food insecurity for home-bound individuals and families by volunteering to deliver food to our neighbors this summer! Benefits in Action helps seniors and families throughout the Denver-metro area without transportation access additional nutrition through free, monthly deliveries of fresh and non-perishable food.

Join us for our Summer Food Delivery Extravaganza! Deliver smiles and food; make a difference in your community.

Volunteer Delivery Drivers must have a vehicle that can accommodate 8-10 boxes (12"x16"x16"), a cell phone, and be able to lift about 20 pounds and navigate steps and stairs to clients homes. Deliveries will be made to a zip code in or near your home in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, or Jefferson counties.

Families or teams may deliver food together.

Arrive at the warehouse at the beginning of the shift. Deliveries will take about 2 hours, depending on distance from warehouse.

*Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required, please have both available on the day of the delivery or send copies to volunteers@benefitsinaction.org beforehand.

Benefits in Action is dedicated to supporting our connecting our diverse community with the support and resources they need to thrive.

Description

Benefits in Action is a nonprofit organization located in Lakewood, Colorado that serves individuals throughout the state. We strive to increase understanding, access, and utilization of healthcare resources. Our team of navigators (staff and volunteers) works with individuals to help them recognize the health-related benefits they qualify for, apply to those benefits, and utilize them as effectively as possible. We are passionate about the importance of increasing healthcare benefit literacy among the public. Accordingly, we organize and hold educational sessions in public facilities aimed at increasing individual understanding and self-efficacy in navigating the healthcare system. In addition to benefit navigation, we also provide tax preparation, mental wellness support, and food delivery (in the Denver-metro area).
