The Rehab Rover Canicross and Trail Race powered by Veterinary Rehabilitation Services of Virginia and Harness Canicular LLC presents the first Canicross race ever in the Commonwealth of Virginia! Whether you are joining us for fun or competing for a top spot on the podium, your bond with your dog will be strengthened as you navigate the trail together! Join us on October 5, 2024, for the best day with your dog!

The day is not just about running, walking, hiking, or hobbling on the trail. Join us for the Rehab Rover Finisher's Festival from 9 am - 2 pm (spectators and family welcome). The festival will be held near the historic Clifton house on the property, which is the hub of all of the operations and features The Dog House Biergarten, food trucks, music, and the Vendor Village with local craftsmen and dog products throughout. Cool off from your race, grab some food, and enjoy the relaxing environment and views from Clifton House.

We will also have Rodeo Dog set up onsite so you and your dog can learn how to be a Rodeo Dog for FREE!

Are you new to Canicross or have a dog in training? Join the 5k Dog-Friendly Trail run and take all the pressure off- just get out there and have fun with your dog. Do not have a dog - come join us with your friends and family!

Fundraiser Organization: Louisa Community Animal Response Team (LCART)

When you run the Rehab Rover, you help save lives!

A percentage of every participant fee and 100% of donations will go towards the needed medical supplies for animals rescued by the Louisa Community Animal Response Team (LCART). Help us make this first year a success by getting as many friends and family registered as possible so we can donate a nice amount to this wonderful group of volunteers!

Mission Statement

Louisa CART/SART is a Volunteer organization dedicated to emergency preparedness, response and management specifically focused on preparedness and response for pets and their owners in Louisa County, VA

Description

Hurricane Katrina brought to the forefront the issue that pets are family and evacuees would not relocate if they had to leave their pets behind. As a result many residents perished. This and similar events identified the need to establish programs to teach pet owners how to better prepare themselves, and their pets, for evacuation during emergency situations. These events also identified the need for human evacuation shelters to provide accommodations to pets of evacuees.

CART teams evolved from these needs bringing together volunteers that are well-trained in emergency management, preparedness, and response focused on the welfare of pets. The Louisa CART team has become one of the premier CART teams in Virginia earning recognition as a State Animal Response Team (SART) and our capabilities continue to expand. We regularly provide training on pet preparedness, pet CPR, and pet First Aid, and information on how to prepare your family for an emergency situation. In the event that the Emergency Shelter is activated for evacuation, the CART team will respond and care for your pet throughout the emergency.
