We're seeking one or more volunteers who are passionate about our mission to help us secure press for our "Bring the Cool" Family Festival taking place on June 18, 2024, during the annual NYC Museum Mile Festival.
Specifically, you will work with the Cool Culture team to outline Cool Culture's unique role inviting children and parents with diverse backgrounds, and with low income to attend this quintessential NYC event; create a press release, and conduct outreach to press outlets. Our goals are to garner visibility for Cool Culture, and the important role of the arts and culture in a love of learning and wellbeing; and to bring attention to a Crowdfunding campaign which will support the endeavor.
You're a great fit for us if you have a PR background, connections to press outlets, and you can spend 8 hours over two weeks on this project - or are open to working with another volunteer to achieve these outcomes.
We have in hand messaging for this initiative - and we need your help shaping it to draw press interest. You also will have access to a creative and committed team dedicated to the success of this project, and to the health and wellbeing of NYC's marginalized families and communities.

Mission Statement
Cool Culture envisions an equitable society that values, embraces and is enriched by all cultures. Our mission is to amplify the voices of families and strengthen the power of historically marginalized communities through engagement with art and culture, both within cultural institutions and beyond
Description
Cool Culture is a nonprofit social justice organization led by and for people of color that for almost 25 years has brought together families, artists, cultural institutions, educators, and the wider New York City community across race and class divides. Our initiatives co-create more equitable access to culture with our partners, support family and community wellbeing and inspire social change. Across NYC we:
- offer 50,000 families free access to our partner cultural institutions, multilingual programs, and resources.
- support 1,000+ educators to use the arts to foster children's love of learning, build family engagement; and
- support museum staff to make a difference to their communities
In our Neighborhood-based Initiatives, families tour cultural centers, critique exhibits, create art, and share stories. Annually families make more than 185,000 visits to partner museums annually; and increased cultural participation in their communities and homes.
