Residents of nursing homes all over the Green Bay, Appleton, and Manitowoc areas need YOU to visit, empower, and advocate for them! (Winnebago, Outagamie, Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Calumet Counties, plus more counties all over WI!) The Board on Aging and Long Term Care is looking for volunteers to advocate for the rights of individuals living in long term care settings. These volunteers visit a nursing home or assisted living facility to interact with residents, observe general conditions of the facility, disseminate brochures to residents about their rights, and work with residents to communicate concerns and questions by providing support and empowerment. Volunteer advocates are support for people who need it most. Training and ongoing support is provided. If you'd like to make a huge impact in someone's life, please consider becoming a Volunteer Ombudsman!
Flexible schedule, weekly 1-3 hour visits are made any time between 8am-8pm, any day of the week. Minimum age: 18. Must pass a background check.
