"A Song For You" Overview--

Born in the pandemic, A Song for You is a grassroots arts not-for-profit that provides essential healing and comfort to hospice patients (and their loved ones) at the end of their lives. Through personalized recorded songs, we honor the legacies patients leave behind while creating a final moment of connection between them and their families.

What started as a singular call to action to ensure isolated Covid-19 patients did not die alone (particularly in a moment in our world when families could not be in the room with one another) "A Song For You" has now grown into its own 501c3 charity in NYC.

Over a time span of 18 months, our artists wrote, recorded, and shared over 200 personalized songs, written from scratch, based on the stories of each individual patient as told through their families to help their legacies live on in song. Songs were also written to honor first responders--including a staff as small as 100 Nurses in a hospice in NYC to a song written for a healthcare system of 15,000 Nurses in Idaho at Christmas. That song solidified the need to continue the work that was born in the pandemic beyond COVID times.

Following a most generous response from the community at large, A Song For You has expanded beyond the pandemic to commit to a mission of primarily writing songs for patients in hospice and hospital, alongside the community of healthcare community who serve them. In a few years time, we have built our own strong community of Artists, and attracted Grammy award-winning artists & Grammy nominees, along with local, touring, and internationally awarded artists both here and abroad.

The healthcare & journalist community have also had a generous response to this project--publications like PEOPLE Magazine, NBC, NY1, News 24, Medium,Upworthy, PopCrush, Daily Southtown/ Chicago Tribune), and others have featured this story, spotlighting our mission; and hospice and healthcare organizations across the country have offered A Song for You to their families as a regular service.

While we do not charge families a dime, we are in a moment where the demand has been high enough that it has outgrown our resources.
