Maine Mineral and Gem Museum's dynamic exhibits, scientific research, and educational programming are all designed to fire the imagination and engage the audience in an informative and enjoyable narrative.

The museum is a year-round, visitor centered resource committed to the heritage, economy, and tourism of Western Maine. Our guests learn about the history of mining, view extraordinary specimens of minerals that convey Maine’s unique place in the geological world and gaze in awe at the variety of gems produced in Maine. Our meteorite gallery is home to a collection of items that are truly from away ,the largest collection of meteorites on display in Nth America it includes pieces from Mars, the Moon and the asteroid belt. Facilitating discussion and learning, our volunteers enhance the visitor experience and provide a vital link between the exhibits and the audience providing the opportunity for informal learning and a great day out.
