Older Adult Services assist individuals aged 60 and older and their families with information, referrals, and resources that allow persons to remain healthy and independent in their homes and communities. These services help families of all incomes, and a small donation is requested when services are provided. Families must have at least one member residing in Goodhue County.
Chore Services is a new program for Older Adults in Goodhue County. Volunteers will be asked to go to specific homes of Older Adults in their community and perform heavier household tasks to help the Older Adult maintain in their home. Some services a volunteer may sign up to provide are:
Leaf Raking
Hedge Trimming
Moving furniture within a room or from one room to another
Assembling furniture
Lawn Mowing
Snow removal.
Weed whacking.
Mopping
Window Washing*
Wall washing
Hanging pictures
Planting flowers
Weeding
Pet care: walking, picking up the yard
Rug dusting
Brush clearing
Tree trimming
Moving boxes to and from storage within the home
Watering outdoor plants
Jumpstarting a car
Putting a spare tire on a car
Washing a car
Seasonal clean up: fall and winter cleanup of garages (sweeping), moving lawn or patio furniture into or out of seasonal storage
Installing smoke detectors / carbon-monoxide detectors
Covering the interior windows in plastic to better keep in heat during winter months.

Three Rivers Community Action is a nonprofit human service organization created by local citizens and incorporated in 1966.

In the professional community of human services, Three Rivers Community Action plays an important role. Three Rivers advocates for our program participants at the local, state and federal levels. The agency has developed a comprehensive networking system with various human service agencies in order to best serve our program participants. These collaborative relationships allow agencies to maximize their resources to serve families and communities. Three Rivers is an agent of change within the community, paving the way for understanding and acceptance.
Our broadest impact is on the people we serve. We fulfill dreams of homeownership for single parents, people with disabilities and diverse families. We keep seniors in their homes with home delivered meals, transportation and energy assistance. Through the Head Start program, we provide school readiness for children and a variety of services for the entire family. We strive to serve people better wherever they are in life, from homelessness to homeownership, and everywhere in between.
